A much nicer interface but less features!

A much nicer interface but less features!
I have to switch ISP every year or so to avoid becoming a faithful customer! This is because they raise the monthly price by a lot once the promotion period ends... So I bought this router to avoid having to reconfigure my home network every time I switch: now I just need to plug my router in the ISP modem and that's all. This router has most of the functions you would need : 3 bands, mesh, ... and a new D-Link interface much easier to use than the old one (see pictures). Especially it is easy to reserved IP addresses for your hardware (you can have 24 of them). You get a nice view of your network and you see directly which hardware is connected or disconnected. What is surprising is that they have taken away the possibility to allow only known MAC addresses to connect to the network. It gave me the opportunity to check D-Link customer service, the answer was quick: you can prevent a given MAC address to connect to the internet at any given time but the opposite, prevent an unknown MAC address to connect to your network is not possible anymore. In this period where you would like more security when your work from home, not less, it is a bit strange. On the hardware side, the three bands one at 2.4GHz and two at 5GHz are interesting on paper but in reality one of the 5GHz band is very weak: the strength of the signal is -70db for one, -50db for the other, I am not sure that the weak band is that useful... Another critical point is the connection to the ISP modem. In case of power failure, when the power comes back the router cannot connect to internet through the modem without physically disconnecting the RJ45 plug from the modem, so if you have a security system (such as an IPcam) and have taken a vacation you have to come back to reconnect (!). The mydlink web portal is only supported on Windows OS and Mac OS. So if you use Linux, you are, as I am, out of luck: technically, you wonder why, may be they cannot spy on you as much :-) So, it is a good product, but there is room for improvement and you hope that you will get firmware upgrades for a long enough time! Review Update: I contacted D-Link at the beginning of the week about the internet connection after a new sequence of power failures. I received today an answer with a new firmware, and this problem is solved. So D_Link technical support is responsive (less than one week) and don't forget to upgrade your firmware!

Very happy with this purchase. It's been many years since I've purchased and used a wireless router. I've just been using our Shaw modem as our wifi. Not as secure and turns out, not as good a signal as the AC3000 provides. The main purpose of purchasing this router was to enable some Parental Controls.

You have to get Shaw to change the setting of your Shaw modem to "Bridge" in order to use a 3rd party wifi router. Setup using the app was easy and just like the online videos show. Had no issues.

As for the parental controls, setup was again easy and easy to add devices to a 'plan'. Why I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is that the time-blocks in parental controls are by the HOUR. So you can't select by the 1/2 hour, or 15 minute increments - only by the hour. This is dumb and needs an update. I should be able to select by 15 minute increments. I'm hoping D-Link makes what should be a simple firmware update.

Style: WiFi 6 AX3200 RouterVerified Purchase
I have a smart home with around 70 wireless devices (smart switches, plugs, cameras, speakers, etc). I had a D-Link AC2200 mesh system with two extenders which worked reasonably well but after I purchased a couple of new wireless cameras for the outside front and back of my home, the older system wasn't able to provide a strong enough signal for these new high resolution cameras so I decided it was time to upgrade to the latest AX (Wi-Fi 6) technology. I initially purchased the D-Link R32 router but It would not work with my outdoor cameras on it's own so I had to purchase two M32's to use as extenders. I have a small 2400 sq. ft. home and yet I needed two extenders for my signal to reach the outside of my home. Initially, this seemed to do the trick as these new cameras were now connected. But soon after I got all of this set up and running, the constant dropping of the Wi-Fi signals started. I'm not talking about an occasional glitch, I'm talking about constant dropped signals several times an hour! These drops kept knocking out some of my devices such as my various cameras and smart speakers where I had to keep rebooting them to reconnect as they wouldn't always automatically reconnect after the constant signal losses. I also had to constantly reboot the router. Sometimes, when I would reboot the router, the network light would stay lit orange as the router couldn't communicate with my modem (modem was working just fine each time). I would be on my iPhone and the wi-fi signal strength would show as very strong and then all of a sudden, my phone would freeze and then switch over to my 5G data network. How can it show a strong signal and then poof, out it goes? This mesh system states that it can handle up to 120 wireless devices and my home has no where near that many. Maybe this system will work just fine for people with just a handful of wireless devices but definitely not a home like mine. Suffice to say, I will be returning my R32 and the two M32's as they are complete garbage. P.S. I also have a few wired ethernet devices and they always continued to work just fine even during the wireless drop outs.

This router generally works fine, as expected. But I found that when using the 5Ghz wifi bands, it only worked if connected to a device using the ax (wifi 6) protocol. The speeds were great, over a gigabit of transfer speed. But when connecting on older devices with only ac support, the router would reboot itself when transfering data at high speed.

I have no idea if I just have a faulty router, or if it is a firmware problem. If it is firmware related, I hope dlink will address this issue in a firmware update.

The 2.4Ghz wifi seems to work fine on all devices, but the transfers are obviously slower than on 5Ghz. Also the wired ports are good. I am keeping the router, but I had to configure my devices to use the 2.4Ghz bands except for those that support ax. This is a bit annoying for sure.

If you don't need to use scheduling or your PC to handle advanced admin, this probably is just fine. I had set up the parental control but it blocked at the wrong time. Hm. 7 hours earlier. It would appear that the router was using UTC and not PDT somewhere in the control, even though other parts of the scheduler seemed to work properly. The advanced admin tools were only accessible from my smart phone. too tiny. gave up in frustration.
