BEST ENTRY DIVER's WATCH...PUTS OTHERS TO SHAME !

BEST ENTRY DIVER's WATCH...PUTS OTHERS TO SHAME !
This watch is the PROOF that you need to know that the watch industry can do a lot with a little budget. How else can you explain this GEM of a CASIO DURO Diver watch. And NO its not a DIVER-STYLE watch...it is a functioning DIVER'S watch which has a screw-down crown and will dive with you to 200 meters (or 600 feet) and go through every adventure you throw at it. Its dial is a very close merger of the best styling offered by Omega and Rolex submariner style diving watches at a Millionth of the price. Casio has borrowed the BEST DESIGN CUES from Rolex and Omega but pushed away the PRICE GOUGING to produce a stunner. I know quite well that the materials used in Omega and Rolex are of the highest quality, but you don't need such levels of excellence in an entry Diver's watch. If you don't like the rubber band, than put it on a fabulous Brushed Oyster Bracelet and it transforms this Duro Diver into a legend (( just search for a "22mm Brushed Oyster Bracelet" on Amazon,,, there are dozens of bracelets )). Even if this diver's watch is 42mm it wears quite small and fits comfortably under a dress shirt for a hectic office life, an outdoor athletic workout, an evening event, or even a secret mission. After wearing it for 9 months, this ridiculously alluring and tough CASIO DURO Diver's watch made me realize that I could never wear any watch smaller than 42mm in dial size (and I even have a slender wrist). I recently tried on a friend's 39mm vintage diver's watch and it had ZERO PRESENCE. This CASIO DURO Diver's watch has loads of presence,,, even from 10 feet away. The 120-click BEZEL that correctly turns only one way (unidirectionally), the screw-down crown, the wonderful dial, the "hackable watch movement” (meaning you can stop the hands), and the watch case's polished stainless steel facets, are all additional proof that a diver's watch doesn't have to cost over $ 500 to feel impressive. This watch IS impressive. Friends of mine are impressed with the polished 316L stainless steel, they keep asking me if its really a CASIO. I myself am quite impressed with the way that it fools other people into thinking you paid $500 more than what you paid. But that's a comment about the expensive watch industry than it is about this CASIO DURO. Frankly, it puts other mid-tier watches above this humble but stellar Casio model to shame. If you always wanted to try out a diver's watch from $0 to $100, but were afraid of the quality or the dependability you would find (and it IS DEPENDABLE), or if you wanted to try out a Diver's watch BEFORE you bought that heavenly second-hand Rolex Submariner for $ 12,000 USD, than this is it. Anything between $100 to $ 500 looks over-priced compared to this watch. The next level worth looking at is the Seiko SKX (which was just discontinued), the Invicta Divers (which carry too many logos), or the Orient diver's watches which are getting expensive, than this DURO Diver is a great idea. This Casio beats the entry-level models hands down while looking TOP NOTCH !

Great watch. Simple and elegant design. Great price. If you only want to have the time and a versatile watch that works well and looks good for any occasion, this is the watch. Nothing fancy on it. It only give the time and date. It does what it is expected. Nothing more. Nothing less. I bought it because I am tired of expensive devices that promise too much and that I end up not using. I don’t need a computer on my wrist. I just need to know the time and this watch does it well without braking the bank. I have also received a lot of compliments on the look. A great classic and reliable watch. I highly recommend it.

TL,DR: Just get it, you know you want to, and she's a real beauty, ooooh yes! :)

Thanks to all the other reviewers, company photos help, of course, but personal photos and comments and videos have convinced me progressively and I finally clicked the Buy button when it went on sale :)

Oh boy, am I happy! She's beautiful, really beee-u-teee-full! A bit big but not too much, a bit of weight but not too much, superb quality, finish is perfect, brushed and reflective parts are perfect, soooonice!

I'm used to 20-25 years ago standards, when watches for men were smaller, my daily driver is a 35 mm (10 to 4), and about 8 mm thick Wenger. This Casio Marlin is about 44 mmm (10 to 4) and about 12 mm thick and I find it perfectly fine and confortable (all approximate measurements here, with a simple ruler aligned with my eyes, not a caliper, but it gives proportions :))

Finish is really impressive, and I'm a sucker for minor defaults :) I really love the reflections, subtle and perfectly regularly done, really above its price category. Not a second early or late in weeks, everything's fine. Easy to adjust, easier if you push straight while using the flanges as support to prevent the hand from moving a bit with the "clic"and not being properly aligned: thanks to the reviewer who gave this hint, it works (and I really *need* hands to be perfectly aligned with markers :))

Original black plastic strap is fine, really, but I just prefer steel bracelet (old habit), so I'm waiting for mine, ordered the same day, but it just moved a bit in China, so it might be a moment before I see it :)

Watch delivered a day late, and the enveloppe was flat and the box was a bit crushed, not enough to damage the watch, but not good for a present... OK for me... as the present was from me to me! :) For the slight delay, Amazon automatically credited approximately the same amount as the delivery fees, without any action from me, so no complaint here :)

Really, if you've done your homework, you've seen all the Amazon and YouTube reviews, and you *know* you have to get one... just do it, you won't regret it! Even better if you can catch a promo price :) It's all you've seen and heard, and even a bit more when you open the package, you'll feel the "Ooooh... woooow, yeeeees" inside :) I still feel it every day, as I put it on display where I can glance at her discretely anytime I'm in the sofa (don't tell my girlfriend!)

Hope this review will help someone, as I've been helped by others :)

Have a nice day, stay safe.

I recently purchased the Casio Duro Diver Watch and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and features. This watch is reliable, durable, and offers the best value for its price.

The design of the Casio Duro Diver watch is classic and stylish, with a bold and easy-to-read display that makes it easy to check the time even in low light conditions. The watch is also incredibly durable, with a tough resin case that can withstand the wear and tear of daily use.

What really sets this watch apart, however, is its water resistance and diver features. The watch is water-resistant up to 200 meters, making it suitable for a variety of water-based activities. The unidirectional bezel is also a great feature, allowing me to keep track of elapsed time when diving.

The watch's accuracy is also exceptional, as it has kept perfect time since I purchased it. The long battery life is also a major plus, as I don't have to worry about constantly replacing the battery.

Overall, I highly recommend the Casio Duro Diver Watch to anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality timepiece. It is a five-star product that offers exceptional features and performance that are unmatched in its price range. Whether you're a diver or just looking for a watch that can withstand the elements, the Casio Duro Diver Watch is the perfect choice.

This is a handsome watch and bears some resemblance to Rolexes that cost over $5,400.00 USD. Shipping was FAST: ordered Sunday night, arrived before noon the next Wednesday! Have not had it long enough to test accuracy or water resistance. It does have a screw-down crown but, on my copy, the bezel was initially stuck: after a few days and warmed up on my wrist it did rotate successfully: this is not a big issue for me. The rubber strap is easy to put on and comfortable. The manual should indicate that, for adjusting the date, it is crown position out one and you turn it COUNTER-CLOCKWISE. The crystal is not scratch-resistant but a kit is available offering five scratch-protective invisible covers, probably a good investment at 15.00 CAD. Overall this watch is good VFM.

Okay so I am writing this review 8 hours after I have received the watch. First thing I want to say is it is exceptionally beautiful and looks more expensive that what you have paid for. For $50 CAD you can't go wrong with this. I will pay $80 for this to be honest. Since I have not really used the watch that much, I can only say so much then I will go back 6 months after to update this review.
The watch has some decent weight in it which feels really nice. The resin strap is not bad at all and it does not feel cheap unlike the straps you get from $20 Casio because the quality is a little different. I am not a fan of the resin strap and I will eventually replace it with a leather strap as soon as possible. I think a Chocolate brown or black leather will make it look more expensive.
This is a simple but useful watch with no non sense in it. 200 meters water resistance what can you ask for? Even tho I don't dive and will most likely not submerge it with water, it something special that no other brands at this price can offer.
This watch and the price is a no brainer and you need to have this in your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Casio “duro”
Reviewed in Italy on February 10, 2019
    Colour Name: Black/SilverVerified Purchase

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, elegant and durable!

    Colour Name: Black/SilverVerified Purchase
As my eyesight gets worse with age, I was looking for a durable, waterproof, easy-to-read watch with a simple timer that looked great on my wrist. I own both a Fitbit and Apple watch – I was getting tired of being tracked all the time and getting notifications about everything (which yes, I know can be adjusted). I’ve owned Casio watches before and still have a G-Shock digital that’s been running great for almost 20 years, so after reading many reviews here on Amazon and elsewhere, it was an easy decision to make.

I went with the black face and bezel model, although you really can’t go wrong with any of the other colors offered. It’s a classic diving watch that, in my opinion, looks sturdy, cleaner and more elegant than some of the more expensive competitors. Given Casio’s proven durability over the decades and the price point of this particular watch, you can't miss with this one.

There are a ton of You Tube videos and review articles online about this diver (which is a bit of a cult classic it seems) – the vast majority of which are overwhelmingly positive, so I won’t add much more here that hasn’t already been stated there. One common “complaint” that I noticed though is regarding the stock watchband. Many are critical of it, but I tend to disagree.

I did take the advice of some and tried a few different aftermarket bands – the Barton elite silicone, a Ritchie classic leather band, and a Ritchie nylon NATO strap (all available on Amazon). With the exception of the NATO, I personally found the stock Casio diver band the watch comes with to be the most comfortable of the others tried – not taking away from or knocking the others by any means, it’s just a “why spend the extra money” type thing for a $50-ish watch. Simply a personal thing…

Re the NATO strap in my pics: I did keep the Ritchie Premium Nylon strap to compliment the watch. It really does dress it up and make the timepiece pop for more “formal” occasions if you will – and very comfortable too. For everyday use though, the stock classic diver-style band turned out to be the most practical for me – one I recommend over aftermarket options and especially for those in the trades or who are knocking around on the beach, out hunting, at the lake, etc.

If I had to be critical of any aspect of this watch, it would be the luminescent capacity of the hands and markers – something also frequently mentioned in many of the reviews I read online. It’s marginal at best. When blasted with high intensity light, the markers glow brilliantly initially, but it does seem to fade quick. I mention it because if this is an important feature for you night owls, it is something to consider. For me, it’s acceptable and not enough of a factor for me to change my rating of the piece.

Bottom line is that I highly recommend this waterproof diver. It’s superior quality with Casio durability and reliability at a price that can’t be beat. It keeps d***-near perfect time and doesn’t have to be charged on a daily basis or wound ever – just a simple, inexpensive battery keeps it going for a couple of years. You will not be disappointed with this one! Thx, DT

Edit 2/2/2024: A word on timekeeping: Having owned this watch for a while now, it does GAIN a few seconds every month. I go to www.time.gov to set adjust time every now and then... It's still more accurate than my other watches though - amazing considering this is a $50-ish dollar piece. Highly recommend this watch!
