Job description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our construction team, possibility of later promotion to Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible in complete the project on-time to deliver high quality project and proficiency in budgetary control. The Assistant Project Manager will perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:

  • Manage projects $5,000,000 and over, coordinating multiple projects of varying size at one time
  • Budget management and draw review, monitor costs and budget throughout course of project
  • Ensure all on-site crew compliance with codes and safety standards
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors and sub-contractors; prepare contracts and confidently negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements
  • Lead and guide junior construction staff and site staff, planning daily operations and construction schedules while monitoring progress.
  • Train and mentor project coordinators who directly report to you
  • Ensure that projects are completed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
  • Able to effectively use software: MS Project, MS Excel, AutoCAD and etc.
  • Carpentry Experience is an asset

Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • A team player with 5 years proven experience construction project management including townhomes and low-rise buildings
  • BCIT Building Technology Structural Design/ Civil Engineering Program (or an equivalent credential)
  • Experience in putting budgets together, schedules, reviewing shop drawings, administering contracts, managing documents, controlling change order processes and schedule monitoring

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High energy with a positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates solid judgement regarding sensitive information
