South Fraser Container Services (2005), Ltd., a division of Sankyo Corporation (Japan), is an export oriented transload facility offering container reload and transportation services in Metro Vancouver. Products are mainly lumber with occasional steel products

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for leading the yard staff to provide excellent service to customers and to ensure Company processes are followed under the general supervision of the Vice President or the General Manager.

Potential career advancement to management position.

Essential Functions:

• Hire, train, develop and supervise yard staff to meet company standards in a unionized environment
• Manage day-to-day operations of the yard, including managing the receiving, handling, storing, inspecting and keeping the facility secure.
• Provide direction to team regarding duties and goals and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in loading, transferring and operating vehicles in the yard.
• Prepare work orders and shipping documents and manage inventory.
• Ensure the yard to be clean, well-organized and safe
• Ensure excellent service is provided to customers
• Handle escalated customer issues as needed
• Ensures safe working environment is established and maintained

Required Skills * Two years of hands-on management experience directly within yard operations, in a dynamic environment

• 5 years of warehouse or lumber yard experience
• Valid counter-balance forklift certificate is desirable, but not necessary
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Computer proficiency
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to work under pressure and multitask
• Bilingual Chinese or Japanese an asset

Other * Occasional O.T. as needed

• Yard hours are 7:00AM to 3:15PM

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
