Bookkeeper (2+ years experience)

Job description

The ideal candidate will be well organized, comfortable dealing with numbers, and able to work independently. This individual will be responsible for full cycle bookkeeping and reconciliations, and conducting other related tasks as required. They should be excellent at recording data and have an ability to produce timely and accurate financial reports and filings. We mainly use Quickbooks Desktop.

Responsibilities 

• Perform and maintain full cycle bookkeeping for our clients
• Track, sort, categorize and record revenue, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
• Timely process of government remittances filings such as PST, GST/HST
• Set up new client files with Quickbooks Desktop or QBO
• Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank, credit card, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
• Maintain, monitor and reconcile In-Trust accounts for lawyers and real estate brokerage firms
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with supervisor to develop resolutions
• Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
• Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with clients and team members

Skills And Experience 

• Certificate or diploma in accounting. Bachelor degree in accounting is considered an asset
• At least 2 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
• At least 2 years working experience with Quickbooks Desktop or icloud accounting software such as QBO is preferred
• Experience working with other desktop bookkeeping software is beneficial
• Working experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Working knowledge of trust accounts bookkeeping for lawyers, real estate brokerage firms is an asset
• Understanding and working knowledge of sales taxes (GST, PST, HST), payroll taxes and corporate tax

Qualifications

• Accounting Diploma or Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 2+ years of experience in full cycle bookkeeping
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and QuickBooks (desktop and/or online)
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
• Detail oriented
• Able to work independently
• Proficient in English and Mandarin (written and verbal)
